Senior Nutrition Assistant – ½ position
Catawba County Social Services is recruiting an energetic and creative half-time Senior Nutrition Assistant to provide coverage and assistance to Senior Nutrition Programs to ensure programs run effectively and efficiently, providing the best possible services to seniors.
This position is half-time, with prorated benefits, working 20 hours per week. Schedule is Monday – Thursday from 8am-1pm and one Friday morning per month.

- Provide assistance at various Seniors Morning Out sites as needed and provide coverage when site supervisors are away as well as perform office work, answering of phone or door in the main office, and delivering of meals as needed.

- Work with nutrition staff, clients, volunteers and community partners to ensure seniors have access to Nutrition Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Site Supervisors at Seniors Morning Out (SMO) Programs helping to prepare site, providing daily activities, meal services, and clean-up
- Assist with Home Delivered Meals routes, including packing meal bags, ensuring routes are picked up, and making reminder calls
- Provide coverage at SMO when Site Supervisors are on leave, which includes setting up site, prepping meal delivery, assisting clients in/out of program, ensuring daily programming, taking attendance, food services, ensuring Home Delivered Meals are picked up, reporting of No Deliveries, and clean-up/lock-up of site
- Provide assistance in the office with paperwork, phone and door coverage, assisting families and caregivers picking up frozen meals, and other duties as assigned
- Delivery of Meals on Wheels when volunteers are unavailable, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience performing office/clerical work or similar responsibilities of the position: OR
- Associates degree in a Business or Human Services field; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid NC Driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Highly flexible with ability to float between programs with ease and learn new things quickly
- Ability to assess daily changes in clients
- Excellent customer service and communication skills to work collaboratively with seniors, community volunteers, and other human services related staff
- This is considered medium work; lifting up to 35 pounds on a regular basis to carry meals, coolers, and supplies.
