Licensed Veterinary Technician

Licensed Veterinary Technician / LVT

Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic – Oswego, NY
$22–$28/hour | Full-time | Weekdays only
No nights, weekends, or on-call

About Us

Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic is a privately owned small animal general practice in Oswego, NY. We are open Monday through Friday with no nights, weekends, or on-call. We try to run our days in a way that gives the team room to do good medicine, communicate well with clients, and support each other through the normal ups and downs of general practice.

As our team grows, with a third veterinarian joining us soon, we are looking to add a Licensed Veterinary Technician who enjoys a hands-on, patient-focused role and wants to be part of a supportive, team-oriented practice.

This position may be a good fit for an experienced LVT or for a new graduate who is looking for a supportive first role where they can continue building confidence, technical skills, and clinical judgment.

What This Role Looks Like

This is a well-rounded technician position with a mix of surgery, appointments, and patient care. Some days are more procedure-focused, supporting surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, recovery, or sedated diagnostics. Other days are more appointment-driven, working with doctors on patient visits, diagnostics, treatment plans, client education, and follow-up care.

Our technicians work closely with our doctors and the rest of the team throughout the day. Depending on the day, this may include taking patient histories, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, running in-house diagnostics, taking radiographs, preparing and administering medications as directed, assisting with therapeutic laser treatments, running appropriate technician appointments, and helping maintain patient flow.

Technicians who do well here usually take pride in their work, communicate clearly, pay attention to details, ask questions when needed, and step in to help the team without losing sight of the patient in front of them.

Experience is great, but you do not have to know everything on day one. Strong technical skills are valued, but so are reliability, good communication, sound judgment, openness to mentorship, and a willingness to keep learning.

What We Offer

  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid holidays and some surrounding days
  • Health and dental insurance
  • 401(k) with up to 4% employer match
  • Continuing education allowance
  • License and membership reimbursement
  • Employee and family pet care discount
  • Uniform allowance
  • Disability and Paid Family Leave, per NYS guidelines

Requirements

  • Active NYS LVT license, recent VTNE passage, or eligibility to obtain licensure in the near future
  • Basic computer skills for medical records and practice software
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interest in small animal general practice
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work as part of a team
