Dosa Rush is a new-age Indian food truck concept bringing bold Indian flavors to Columbus. Our specialty is the dosa — a crispy, savory crepe made from rice and lentils — paired with exciting fillings, chutneys, and sauces inspired by Indian street food culture. We are operated by two young entrepreneurs passionate about changing the food scene in Columbus through creativity, authenticity, and high-energy customer experiences.
This is not a typical kitchen job. Team members at Dosa Rush will learn specialized cooking techniques, fast-paced kitchen operations, and modern food business skills while working in a fun, collaborative environment. Because our food is unique around campus areas and events, we expect strong customer demand, busy service hours, and excellent tip potential for hardworking team members.
Skills Preferred
- Prior experience working in restaurants as a prep cook, line cook, or kitchen assistant preferred
- Experience with Indian food is helpful but not absolutely required
- Ability to perform prep tasks such as dicing, slicing, marinating, mixing, and portioning ingredients
- Ability to work with basic pots, pans and related equipment to cook curries
- Comfortable operating kitchen equipment such as food processors, blenders, grinders, and mixers
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to understand instructions quickly and repeat processes consistently
- Patience and calmness while working in a busy kitchen environment
- Interest in learning about Indian food, spices, and cooking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
Minimum Requirements
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred, OR strong home-cooking skills with a genuine interest in culinary work
- Must be available Monday through Saturday for at least 6 hours per day and 36 hours per week
- Must be willing to undergo a one-month paid training period
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive kitchen prep tasks
- Ability to lift and move basic kitchen supplies and ingredients safely
- Must maintain professionalism, cleanliness, and punctuality
Expected Responsibilities
- Perform daily kitchen prep work including cutting vegetables, preparing chutneys, sauces, fillings, and ingredient mixes
- Follow clean kitchen practices and maintain high standards of personal hygiene and food safety
- Follow manager instructions during training and day-to-day kitchen operations
- Assist with food storage, ingredient labeling, inventory organization, and raw material retrieval
- Maintain consistency in recipes and preparation standards
- Arrive on time daily, as food truck service operations are highly time-sensitive
- Help maintain cleanliness of prep areas, equipment, and storage spaces
- Support the team during busy service periods when needed
